Stamp Duty Costs are dependent upon the property value. Below is a table giving an example of the Stamp Duty percentage that would be owed on a property amount:
Price of Property | Stamp Duty Payable |
Up to £250,000 (First Time Buyers up to £425,000) | Zero |
For First Time Buyers – The next £199,999.00 (the portion from £425,000.01 to £625,000.00) | 5% |
The next £675,000 (the portion from £250,001 to £925,000) | 5% |
The next £575,000 (the portion from £925,001 to £1.5 million) | 10% |
The remaining amount (the portion above £1.5 million) | 12% |
Example
In October 2022 you buy a house for £295,000. The SDLT you owe will be calculated as follows:
- 0% on the first £250,000 = £0
- 5% on the final £45,000 = £2,250
- total SDLT = £2,250
Indemnity Insurance will be specific to the property transaction and we will provide you with a range of quotes should you require this insurance. Due to your individual demands and needs and the requirement to provide several products for you to consider it is not possible to give an estimated costs of the insurance product.
The length of time of your matter will depend on a number of factors, many of which are beyond our control.
For instance, if your transaction forms part of a large chain then delays can occur in other sections of the chain. Another cause of delay can be due to mortgage companies and obtaining offers or redemption statements.
Typically, many transactions complete within 8 – 12 weeks but transactions can be both shorter and longer depending on a number of circumstances.
We can offer you an instant quote for buying and/or selling a property, remortgaging or transferring equity. Simply click the quote calculator and fill in your details.
